With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hector Buenviaje Brual Jr—a man whose unwavering kindness and infectious joy brought people together and brightened every room he entered. Born on January 31st, 1965, and passing on September 12th, 2025, Hector’s 60 years were defined by selfless acts, laughter, and a profound devotion to his family and friends. His presence left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege to know him.
Hector graduated from the Wisconsin State School for the Deaf in 1984, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Gallaudet University, and a Master’s degree from Lamar University. He spent decades working all over the United States and internationally in his final years. Outside of education and work, Hector was a film fanatic, a loyal Cubs and Bears fan, and a loving father.
Hector showed unwavering dedication to those he loved. Whether it be using his jokes to bring laughter, his energy to help solve other people’s problems, or simply being present to provide support, he always committed himself to those around him. Hector made everyone feel like family and showed his constant devotion to them.
He is survived by his loving son, Phil Brual, who was his entire world. Hector would always celebrate his son to anyone who would listen. Whether it was a massive milestone, such as graduating from college or earning an A on a math test, Hector made sure the world knew how proud he was. Hector’s love for his son had no limits and is known by all. Despite his early passing, Hector’s teachings and wisdom will not only live through Phil but also grow and flourish with him. Hector is also survived by his mom, Elvie and her husband Mario, and his siblings H.B., Roger, and Leslie.
Not only will Hector’s remarkable life and legacy be forever remembered and celebrated, but they will also serve as an inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A visitation for Hector will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031. A graveside service will occur Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048.
