Christine I. Hilgers, age 74, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a service at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be at a later date at Plover Cemetery.
Christine was born October 13, 1950 in Stevens Point, WI to Wallace and Ann (Pulchinski) Grover. She graduated from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in 1971. She married Harry Hilgers on June 24, 1972 in Junction City.
Christine’s life was interwoven with the simple yet profound joys of the natural world. She found solace in the companionship of her beloved pets, tranquility in the rustling leaves of her cherished wildlife neighbors – deer, squirrels, and turkeys, and serenity in the calming sounds of the creek. She and Harry enjoyed traveling and attending gatherings and events with the Deaf community.
Christine is survived by her loving husband, Harry; daughter, Ann (Jason) Robbins of Wisconsin Rapids; and three grandchildren: Darren (McKenzie) Robbins and Genavive Robbins, both of Wisconsin Rapids, and Adeline Robbins of Gilbert, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Bernhagen.
